#Running git on mac install#
To use the latest version of Git, install the same via Homebrew by running:Īnd set the PATH variable so that /usr/local/bin takes precedence over /usr/bin. To resolve the issue and to use the Xcode/system installed copy of git, run: However, Xcode/system installed copy (which should take precedence due to $PATH variable configuration) wasn't accessible because developer path couldn't be found. I don't really know what I'm doing with macOS and I'm a bit concerned I'll break stuff if I fiddle too much. If it helps, here is a screenshot of the original notice box too: Old answer (still has useful info for running ssh-agent manually though) I cant read your link right now because my browser wont open the page. Software Update shows no updates are available. If I then try Xcode-select -install, I get: xcode-select: error: command line tools are already installed, use "Software Update" to install updates Use `sudo xcode-select -switch path/to/Xcode.app` to specify the Xcode that you wish to use for command line developer tools, or use `xcode-select -install` to install the standalone command line developer tools. If I open a terminal window and type git -version, I get the following error: xcrun: error: active developer path ("/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer") does not exist
